Work Assignment:

Today I started my work by preparing for the induction next week-we printed the handout-also we already ordered the files for the handout-after that I spend a lot of my time entering staff satisfaction index data in the company system after Mr. Lioyd explained it to me-staff satisfaction index is important for the company, because they need to know their employees happiness or satisfaction with what the company provide them like their food and salary, so that they can improve in the future and make the employees satisfy and happy- after entering SSI data in the company system for all creek employees I started working in my college final project-then Mr. Stephen Wangai gave me a handout about employees performance appraisal (policy and guidelines) to read it-so for this week I did learn about the following points:
1. External influences on hospitality training.
2. Principles of adult learning.
3. Diversity and training.
4. Responsibilities of training personnel training budgeting, investing and return of investment in training

I enjoyed my whole week working in Dubai Golf with the staff from the HR department, because they like a lovely and helpful family to me.

Today I started my work organizing employees papers (like leave letter or salary letter) according to the employees ID numbers to enter it after that in the employee’s files easily- I went to Mr. Stephen Wangai after that, he discussed and explained to me about the training budget- also he showed me some tables to make it easier to me to understand about their own company training sessions budget - we have induction next week, so we started looking in the names list- -we classified the new employees who attended the induction last week and who don’t- we came up with the final list of the new employees who didn’t attended the induction last week- we started sending them emails and make a check list of the materials that we will need for the induction- I did learn a lot, because he taught me how to do every things step by step which make it easier for me-In Dubai Golf they do keep employees passports in a safe place to avoid lose them in fire situation and give it back if the employees ask for them-moreover, Mr. Lioyd who is responsible of recruitment section taught me where I can find employees passports if they do ask about them , how should I print it and where and how should I return it after print it-finally, I continued organizing employees papers according the their ID number.

Today I have very exciting and busy schedule as well. Mr. Stephen Wangai gave me the data of the new employees that he gave me yesterday to continue entering it in the training system. Before I starting entering the data to the training system they downloaded the training system to my own PC to make me feel more comfortable working at my own desk- I was so happy ,so I finished entraining the data of the new employees at the same date - Mr. Stephen Wangai was very happy, because I finished my job in the same day- I discussed with him some mistakes that I did during entering the data in the system and he explained to me the mistakes-also he did explain to me more about this training system features which was very interesting and useful for me to know – after that my supervisor invited me to her office and asked me to choose some training sessions topics that I really want to learn about before finishing my work placement period - I was very happy ,because she do care about me and she want me to return to my college with different experiences and good knowledge- furthermore, my friend at the office taught me how to return the employees files to the right place in the office drawers according to the employees working locations - my college mentor Mr. Tridib came to my work placement to see me and talk with me about the work - he talked with my supervisor as well about my evaluation book privately-I was so happy, because both of them were happy with my work and blog-I asked my college mentor some questions about my final report and presentation and he answered my questions –moreover, he taught me how to attach photos and pictures to my blog to make it more attractive and lively-finally I sit with my supervisor to tell her about the training session topics that I chose to learn -she was very happy with my choices and she told me that she will definitely do her best to conduct those training sessions for me with other employees who are in the same level as me.

Today I started my day looking at rating performance appraisal sheet for an employee who is working in Emirates Golf which was given to me by Mr. Stephen Wangai –it was very useful for me ,because I do studied in college about different performance appraisal methods but I have no chance to see how those performance appraisal methods look like in reality and why do the companies use them -They do use rating performance appraisal method to evaluate the company employees perform in different departments and situations-also they do use supervisors and customers feedbacks to evaluate employees performance which is considered to be very useful method in most companies-then we discussed training and development in Hospitality Company like Dubai Golf- we discussed how do Dubai Golf promote the employees and treat all employees fairly and equally without looking at their nationalities-after that Mr. Stephen Wangai gave me the chance to ask questions and I did ask lots of questions and he answered all of my questions which benefit me a lot-after that I spend the rest of my day entering the date of the new employees to the company training system which was very interesting for me-before leaving my supervisor asked me to come to her office –she praised me and she said that she is very pleased and happy with my performance during the trips and the induction which make me very happy and encouraged me to work harder during my work placement period- Moreover, that make me think seriously about joining Dubai Golf after graduation.

At the morning I arranged employees CVs and entered it to the company system- also Mr. Stephen Wangai gave me a book about training and development in investment company like Dubai Golf and asked me to read it carefully, because it will benefit me a lot and he was right- after that the HR department arranged a lunch for local employees ,so we went to the lunch–Then we visited the employees apartments who worked for Dubai Golf and the company branches and find out that they are very luck to have every things like reading room, internet room, party room and lots of things more- it was very exciting to know new local employees from different branches and departments-after we come back Mr. Stephen Wangai showed me their training and development system of the company and explained it to me as well- then he taught me how to enter new employees data to the training system-finally I entered some new employees data in this system

Today we went on a trip all over Dubai Golf to show the new employees all different s sections and departments-organizing and plan for the trip was very interesting and useful for me as a HR student ,because I got lots of skills and knowledge- we took lots of pictures as a memory-after that Mr. Stephen Wangai showed them how to rode the buggies or the club car that they use to go all over Dubai Golf- also we went to Dubai museum to show them the history of the UAE- they were asking me lots of questions about our history and cultural and I was proud to tell them about our country-finally we went to Emirates Golf Club to introduce our new staffs to the staffs there-this was the most interesting day in my whole week ,because I become a friend to most of the new staff which make me know different from different countries. I believe that the coming weeks will be more interesting which make me more exciting to work there.

Today I spend the whole day in the induction or the training session for the new employees in Dubai Golf- as his assistant I helped Mr. Stephen Wangai who is the trainer explaining and presenting some points which is related to The UAE , I copied and distributed the files for the trainees-also I learned that organize the room for the training session , be able to answer the questions properly ,behave professionally and try to present the point as simple as you can to make sure that all of the trainees understand you are the most important things for successful training session.

I told my supervisor that I decided to learn more about training and development section during my workplacement if it possible and she agreed , so today I had a meeting with (Mr. Stephen Wangai who is working in the HR department as a Training Officer and he gave me the plan or the internship program for the next weeks and explained it to me as well- after that they taught me what is the regret letter and why do we write it- then I helped them writing some regret letters -since we have induction for Wednesday I helped Mr. Stephen Wangai who is responsible of this induction preparing the files and the induction room.

Today I went to the HR department where they prepared for me place with computer and met with all staff in the department -I attended induction about Dubai Golf HR department which were prepared by two members from theirHR department (Shamma Al Marr and Jordan Gucor)-in this induction they went through their HR department processes and what do they want to achieve , how do they work and what are their HR department functions–I went in a tour ,but this time I met with staff from different departments in Dubai Golf-finally I set with my supervisor and discussed what do I want to learn and what I will be doing in my workplacement period.

General induction for Internship Program prepared by (Mr. Stephen Wangai who is working in the HR department as a Training Officer went through some important things for us as a new trainee in Dubai Golf such as Golf tourism in Dubai, their mission statement and told us about their safety policy in Dubai Golf, because it is one of the most important thing for all staff as well as the trainee)-lunch break-finally we went all over the place by their own organization club car (tour).
